Disruption Books Internship - Winter/Spring 2020

New York, United States

Maybe you’ve been known to get lost in a book store, or maybe your to-be-read pile is dangerously tall. Maybe you love spreading the word about an amazing memoir or novel you just read—writing thoughtful reviews on Goodreads and bookstagramming your current read. Or, do you ever read a book description that doesn't do a story justice and wish you could help the author better reach her readers?

If so, you might be just the person we’re looking for.

Disruption Books, a subsidiary of West Wing Writers, offers a full-time, paid internship to a select candidate who is interested in learning more about a career in book publishing and promotion.

We don’t expect an intern to be an aspiring author or to have edited a book before, but we do want someone who loves to work on the business side of the book world and has a flair for helping authors make their work shine—whether on the shelf or on social media; someone who is creative, curious, thoughtful, motivated, and dependable.

As an intern, you’ll be an integral part of the Disruption Books team, learning about, observing, and even contributing to the process by which books are conceived and brought to market. The intern is paired with an on-staff mentor who provides training, feedback, and guidance throughout the internship, and will have the opportunity to learn about research and writing through structured seminars.

The internship is full-time—9am-6pm, five days a week—and interns receive a $3,000 stipend each month. The application period for the 2020 Disruption Books Winter/Spring Internship (January-May) is now open.

The internship is only open to college juniors, seniors, and alumni.

We will accept applications for Winter/Spring internships in New York City until 5:00 pm EST on August 30th, 2019.

Disruption Books and West Wing Writers are committed to a diverse workplace. Women, people of color, and LGBTQ people are strongly encouraged to apply.
